This is the Rockford Game Convention you are looking for!
The following is a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). From time to time this list may grow, as new questions are raised or further details are developed.
Do you have a question that we've not covered here, please feel free to write us webmaster(at)rock-con.com and we will respond as quickly as we are able. Thank you!
What is ROCK-CON and where is it located?
Rock-Con is an historical and fantasy miniature gaming, collectible miniatures, role-playing, collectible card and board gaming events covering the entire spectrum of adventure gaming. It is being held at the Tebala Event Center at 7910 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL 61108.
How do I get to the TEBALA EVENT CENTER?
The Event Center is located off of Interstate 90. See the Map below for more info.
Is parking available on site, and if so, is it free or what does it cost?
Parking is available on-site for free.
What food options are available?
Please no outside food or drink. Onsite food and beverage will be available. Aside from the onsite concessions, there are several fast food or sit down restaurants in the immediate area
What is the layout of the convention?
The convention map will be available in the program onsite.
When will Exhibitor packets be available?
If you're interested in being an Exhibitor at Rock-Con, please check back for our TableTop Events site.
What is the cost of admission to the convention?
Pricing can be found here on Rock-Con's Table Top Events Site.
What is the cost for playing games?
Rock-Con does not charge you to play the individual games.
The only game registration cost you may face would be to participate in a tournament or other games listed for a fee when you "purchase" your TableTop Event ticket. In those cases, fees go toward prize support. So, after you purchase your badge to the Convention, you can enjoy all the gaming your time will allow at no additional fee.
What is the setup time alloted for GM's?
GM's will have 30 minutes prior to their event for set up unless they request a delayed start with their event registration. Additionally, please keep in mind that GM's have 30 minutes to clean up after a game. To be considerate to GM's following you on your table, please be sure to end your game early if you need more than 30 minutes of clean up time.
How do I sign up for a game?
With your badge purchase on TableTop Events, you will be allowed to sign up for games in advance of the convention through selecting ticketed events on TableTop Events. If you have purchased your badge on site or if you want to look at different options for games, head to the Games Sign-up area to reserve or change a seat in a game. Each game has a sign-up sheet, but please, only sign up for one game per time slot. If the game is full, please choose a different game or talk to one of the convention event staff at Games Sign-up. If a game you are signed up for has been canceled, please see an event staff member and we will try to get you into a different game for that time period. !! Please note: Pathfinder Society Games have a separate registration process from ROCK-CON and will need you to register through their website Warhorn for both the convention and the games you wish to play or GM.!!
Sign up sheets will become available at Games Sign-up at timed intervals as indicated by the schedule posted on-site. The sheets will be laid out at the Game Sign Up area across from the Registration Desk.
What is the process for unloading of Exhibitors for setup (and reloading for clean up)?
When Exhibitors arrive, they are asked to check in with the Registration Desk to receive their packets. Immediately following, you will be asked to pull up to a loading area where Convention Volunteers (aka Minions) will provide as much assistance as you desire in unloading your stock to your space. At close of the convention, 'Minions' will once again be made available to help you pack out. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.
What is the process for unloading of Auction items or GM materials?
There may be a dolly or two for use on carpeted areas near the Registration Desk. Please be considerate and return it to the location for others to use as soon as possible. 'Minions' have also been known to assist from time to time.
Is there on-site storage for GM materials?
There is NO secure on-site storage for GM or Player materials. If you leave items after closing, please note you do so at your own risk.
Is there space for Open Gaming?
There may be space for open gaming. Please check in with the Convention Staff at the Event Sign-up table (across from Registration) to ask about open tables for a specific time slot.
What if I have to cancel my preregistration?
ROCK-CON understands that sometimes life happens and you may not be able to attend as originally planned. If this occurs, work through the TableTop Event site to cancel your registration. Refunds of badges, excluding processing fees, should be available through TableTop Events when canceling at least 30-days before the first day of the convention.
After that time, we regret that we are unable to provide refunds. Thank you for your understanding.
Site / Convention Rules & Regulations to be Observed
Is there an entry cost for children?
Children under the age of 12 years old get into the convention free with a paying adult. If you wish to attend with a minor and secure a badge through TableTop Events, please email our registration staff at Registration@Rock-Con.com for the appropriate discount code.
If children are participating in an event with a fee, such as a tournament, they have equal stake in the prize and therefore must pay the event specific fee to reserve a space.
Do I need to purchase a badge to observe and/or shop at the Exhibitors or Silent Auction?
Yes, a badge is required to access any aspect of the convention. In an effort to minimize what we ask of our hard-working judges, we do not offer any special badge types to allow for observation or shopping only. This frees our staff and our judges from being in the uncomfortable position of asking a guest to leave a game due to an incorrect badge type. Your badge is your all-access pass to the convention and its activities.
Who created the LOGO?
Here is a history of who created our LOGOs through the years. Special thanks to all the wonderful artisans who contributed time, talent, and creativity:
